Nexagent appoints ex-EMEA filenet chief as CEO
Murphy to play key role in taking company to next critical stage-global service rollout
Royce Murphy has been appointed CEO of Nexagent, a leading provider of software that automates and optimises the design, implementation and assurance lifecycle of multi-carrier wide area networks (WANs). He will be taking over from the company founder, Charlie Muirhead, who will remain as President of Nexagent with overall responsibility for marketing, business strategy and solution roadmap.
Murphy has over 25 years of management experience in both leading NASDAQ quoted technology companies as well as start-up businesses. He joins from FileNET, a $350 million business process management and content management software vendor, where he was Senior Vice President for the EMEA region. Prior to this he was CEO of PeopleDoc Ltd., a UK-based venture capital backed start-up that developed software for document and process collaboration in corporate finance. Murphy has also held senior positions at Eastman Software and Hewlett-Packard. He holds an MBA from Harvard and a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering.
Royce Murphy said: "I'm very excited to join Nexagent at such a crucial stage in the company's development. Nexagent's technology and methodology enable its customers to obtain customised global data networks. Best-fit telecom carrier services from around the world are selected and combined to deliver a wide area network (WAN) solution that is cost effective and secure and offers the geographical coverage each customer requires. The evolution of the telecommunications market, Nexagent's unique offering, and the increasing demand from global enterprises for high quality WANs provide an outstanding opportunity to create sustainable advantage."
Murphy added, "I will act as the company's chief 'get it done' officer with Charlie Muirhead still driving Nexagent's strategy and direction in his role as President. My experience in securing venture capital investment, implementing a new business model, and generating the profitable sale of PeopleDoc together with successfully building strong channel partnerships throughout my career directly support our strategy to execute Nexagent's strong business model and accelerate its growth."
Commenting on Murphy's appointment as CEO, Nexagent founder, Charlie Muirhead, said: "With Royce's appointment we have now completed the Nexagent management team. Royce's experience in building and growing successful technology and software companies will be very valuable to ensure the sustainable and profitable development at Nexagent. We have put a lot of time into building our management team, and I am confident that we now have the right people in place to drive Nexagent to the next stage - global service rollout"
Gerry Montanus, Nexagent Board Member and Senior Principal at Atlas Venture, said: "We are delighted to have someone of Royce's calibre onboard as CEO. His decision to join is a demonstration that Nexagent is chasing a very large opportunity. Royce's extensive management experience in both large software companies and start-ups in the US and across Europe will be vital to help make Nexagent a success."
